About this independent guide

Written by marine life enthusiasts with no affiliation to any aquarium or tourism body.

Who we are

Atlantic Aqua Guide is a small independent publication written by travellers and marine life enthusiasts who visit the French Atlantic coast regularly. We started the site because finding clear, neutral information about aquarium entry, opening times and what to expect was harder than it should be. Most pages on the topic were either official promotional material or resale platforms with a financial interest in where you bought your ticket.

We have no such interest. We do not sell anything, we do not take commissions and we are not affiliated with any aquarium, museum or tourism body. We write what we observe, we correct what we get wrong and we point readers to the official source when practical details matter.

What we publish

Our pages cover Aquarium de La Rochelle, Océanopolis Brest, Nausicaa Boulogne-sur-Mer and the Vannes aquarium. For each site we describe its history, the general pattern of its admission system, the best times to visit and how to get there. We do not publish exact prices because they change, and an out-of-date figure can lead a visitor to arrive with the wrong amount or the wrong expectations. We describe patterns rather than figures and direct readers to the official channel for the current tariff.

Editorial independence

No aquarium, museum, hotel or tourism board has paid for any content on this site. No page has been sponsored. We accept no advertising. Our operating costs are covered by the publishers themselves. That independence allows us to describe each site honestly, including its busy periods, its limitations and, where relevant, the alternatives.

How we work

Our content is based on personal visits, publicly documented facts from marine institutions and historical sources, and the published material of the sites themselves, used for factual reference only. Where something we describe may have changed, we say so explicitly and recommend confirming locally. If you notice an error, a missing detail or a change that has not been reflected on a page, we welcome a short email and will update the content as soon as possible.

Safety and integrity

We care about the safety of our readers. We tell people not to buy from unofficial sellers, not to follow links from unsolicited messages and not to trust anyone who approaches them on the street claiming to offer guaranteed entry. We apply the same principles to ourselves. This site contains no payment system, no forms that collect personal data and no tracking for advertising purposes.

Get in touch via our contact page if you have a question about the guide, a correction, or a suggestion for a site we should cover in future.
